Welcome to Sidmouth Cricket Club

Founded in 1823 Sidmouth Cricket Club is one of Devon’s best known clubs and indeed it was here in 1875 that the Somerset County Cricket Club was formed. The club’s main ground at the Fortfield is very attractive overlooking the sea and within touching distance of the esplanade and the town centre.

Founder members of the Devon Cricket League (DCL), the club has three sides playing throughout the league season. The club were Premier Champions in 2008. The Devon Minor County side also stage both one and three day matches on the ground. Various other Devon age group sides also use the ground. As Sidmouth is a holiday resort the club also hosts many midweek games against touring sides in July and August.

The club has a second ground at Bicton College. It is an excellent facility which the club’s groundsman and staff have full responsibility to maintain.

The club has a very active Colts section with about 80 youngsters between 8 and 15 years attending each week, supported by qualified coaches. Each age group plays competitively in the excellent East Devon Youth League.

The Sidmouth Cricket Club is part of a larger sports club ( Sidmouth C.T.C & H Club) which also offers Croquet and Tennis in the summer and Hockey in the winter. The club boasts an attractive thatched pavilion with bar and catering facilities providing a very friendly environment. These facilities can also be hired to outside parties and other events.
